Japan Tourist Visa Document Checklist
1. Essential Identification Documents

Original Passport: Must be valid for at least 6 months and contain a minimum of two blank pages.

Old Passports: Include if you have any previous passports.

Passport Photocopies: Clear copies of the first and last pages, along with all pages containing visas, entry, and exit stamps.

Visa Application Form: Completely filled out and signed by the applicant.

Passport-Size Photographs:

Size: 2x2 inches (Exceptions: Bangalore jurisdiction requires 35x45 mm).

Specifications: Color photo with a white background, printed on high-quality paper.

Validity: Must be taken within the last 6 months.

Residence Proof: Any valid proof of residence within the jurisdiction of the consulate you are applying to.
2. Travel & Itinerary Details

Cover Letter: Must indicate the purpose of the visit and day-to-day details. It must be signed by the applicant. (Note: If self-employed, this must be printed on your company letterhead).

Travel Itinerary: A detailed, day-to-day plan of your trip.

Flight Tickets: Confirmed flight tickets for your round trip.

Hotel Booking: Confirmed hotel accommodation for the entire duration of your stay.

Accompanying Adult Visa: If traveling with another adult who already has a visa and is not applying with you, provide a copy of their valid Japan visa.
3. Financial Proofs

Personal Bank Statements: Statements for the last 3 months. (If using a bank passbook, submit a clear copy of the passbook pages).

Income Tax Returns (ITR): ITR for the last 2 years. (Exception: Applicants in the Kolkata and Chennai jurisdictions must submit ITR for the last 3 years).
4. Occupational Documents
Submit the documents that apply to your current employment status:

If Employed: Provide an Employer NOC (No Objection Certificate).

If Self-Employed: Provide proof of ownership or a company registration certificate.
5. Specific Requirements for Students & Dependents
If the applicant is a student or traveling as a dependent, the following additional documents are required:

Consent Letter: Written consent from parents or spouse.

Sponsor's Bank Statement: Bank statement of the parents/spouse for the last 3 months.

Sponsor's ITR: Latest Income Tax Return for parents/spouse. (If ITR is unavailable, submit their bank statement for the last 6 months instead).

Proof of Relationship: Passport copy, Marriage Certificate, or Birth Certificate linking the applicant to the sponsor.

Student Identity Card: Clear copy of the current student ID.

Institution Certificate: School/College NOC or Bonafide certificate.
